The little village of Castagnols is situated at the heart of a natural setting, in a small valley at an altitude of 750 m. Well-protected in a hollow at the end of this valley lies “La Source de Castagnols”, a restored farmhouse which carries the name of the old spring on its land which provided water for the village. Dating to 1684, the farmhouse possesses massive stone walls, fine gateways, heavy chestnut roof beams, roofing of schist slates, courtyards, open terraces and a beautiful dining hall with a huge fireplace.
Our farmhouse is an excellent base for a holiday in one of the wildest and most beautiful regions of southern France, in the heart of the Parc National des Cévennes, a nature reserve. Our 4 chambres d’hôtes are classed “3 epis” by Gîtes de France. They are spacious, decorated in the Cévenol style, each with its own bathroom and WC. The comfortable beds offer a restful experience augmented by the tranquillity of Castagnols.
In the evening you may join our family on one of the terraces to enjoy the local wine and a three-course supper of French cuisine with a regional character.
